Role in Conservation

His work is characterised by a shift in focus from “charismatic” animals to the often-overlooked species of the Central Indian landscape. His key areas of influence include:

  • Advocate for “Lesser-Known” Wildlife: One of his primary missions is shifting the spotlight away from just tigers and leopards to the entire ecosystem, including smaller mammals, birds, and flora. He coordinates platforms that highlight the status and management challenges of endangered species like the Caracal, Gharial, GIB, Forest Owlett, Indian Skimmer, Indian Wolf, Hyna, Lesser Florican etc. His advocacy emphasise that “wastelands” (grasslands) and river systems are critical habitats that require dedicated conservation strategies, similar to those afforded to Tiger Reserves.
  • Environmental Literacy: Using the journal and field workshops to educate the next generation of conservationists.
  • Conflict Mitigation: Finding ways for humans and wildlife to coexist in rapidly developing rural as well as Urban areas. Researching human-wildlife conflicts to promote a better future for both local communities and wildlife.
  • The Caracal Project: He is a vocal advocate for the protection of the critically endangered Caracal, particularly in landscapes like the Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary, where recent conservation efforts (including habitat restoration for cheetah prey) have also benefited this elusive wild cat.
  • Tourism and Awareness: Leveraging his background as an entrepreneur (Founding CEO of MP Tour and Travels.Com), he integrates sustainable tourism with conservation to sensitise the public to biodiversity.
  • Community Engagement: Teaching individual responsibility for nature Conservation rather than relying solely on government or NGO intervention.
